Swedish Match develops, manufactures and sells market-leading brands in product areas Snus and snuff, Other tobacco products (US mass market cigars and chewing tobacco) and Lights. The Group sells products across the globe, with production units in six countries. Swedish Match also has an independent distribution company in Sweden. The Swedish Match share is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Stockholm (SWMA).

On October 1, 2010, Swedish Match contributed its cigar and pipe tobacco businesses, with the exception of its US mass market cigars and its minority shareholding in Arnold André, to form the new Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG). STG is 49 percent owned by Swedish Match.
On July 2, 2009, Swedish Match AB announced the agreement to sell its South African operations, Swedish Match South Africa (Proprietary) Limited, and the transaction was subsequently closed in September. Following this announcement, Swedish Match South African operations are reported as discontinued operations. Furthermore, the segments have been reclassified with the remainder of the former pipe tobacco and accessories segment now being reported in Other Operations.
