    · Sales for the first quarter increased by 2 percent to 2,982 MSEK (2,917). In local currencies, sales for the first quarter increased by 5 percent.
    · Operating profit from product areas1) for the first quarter declined by 8 percent to 832 MSEK (903). In local currencies, operating profit from product areas1) for the first quarter declined by 6 percent.
    · Operating profit2) increased by 6 percent to 1,031 MSEK (972) for the first quarter, and includes an additional capital gain of 159 MSEK on the disposal of the former head office site in Stockholm.
    · EPS (basic) for the first quarter increased by 14 percent to 3.72 SEK (3.27), excluding larger one-time items EPS (basic) declined by 11 percent to 2.92 SEK (3.27).

    General Tailored is a new, customized portion snus. The portion pouches are softer, with optimum fit and a sleeker can. This is all done to offer a tailored snus experience, down to the last detail. The flavor is classic General, but with distinct elements of bergamot.

    General Tailored differs from other snus products. The portion pouches are softer and the fit under the lip is better, thanks to a patent pending Swedish Match technology called NatuFibe, which is an innovation based on natural plant fiber.

    The new, somewhat smaller can with its soft rounded corners and combination-lid underneath will be launched in the market in early May. A can of General Tailored weighs about 16 grams, contains 20 portion pouches and will cost about 35 SEK.

Swedish Match is well positioned as the third largest snus and moist snuff company. The Company also has a 50/50 joint venture with Philip Morris International to explore and develop new markets for snus outside of Scandinavia and the US. Production units are located in Sweden (snus) and the US (moist snuff).

Other tobacco products

Other tobacco products

Swedish Match is a major player in the US market for cigars, and the largest manufacturer in the US for chewing tobacco. Nearly all the products are sold exclusively on the US market. Production takes place in the US (cigars and chewing tobacco) and in the Dominican Republic (cigars).

Lights

Lights

Swedish Match is the market leader for matches in many markets throughout the world, with well known local brands. For lighters, the Cricket brand has strong market positions in a large number of countries, most notably in parts of Europe and Asia. Production of matches takes place in Sweden and Brazil, and of lighters in the Philippines, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
