Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2 are toxins produced by moulds. They thrive in warm, tropical climates and therefore occur in imported foods like nuts, spices, corn, rice and figs.
Aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2 are classified as carcinogens by WHO.
Swedish snus and foodstuffs
Measurable levels of aflatoxins do not occur in Swedish Match Swedish snus products.
The Swedish National Food Agency has set a limit for total aflatoxins in snus and there are EU-wide limits for aflatoxins in certain foodstuffs (http://www.slv.se). Total aflatoxin has had a GOTHIATEK limit since 2015.
